The Song of the Song of Solomon, By Roz Calvert

Chapter I Verse 1: In the shadows of her grandma's bedroom, a young lady rolled her stockings off and wiggled her free toes. Then she stepped back into her Easter pumps and peeked into the dresser mirror.

I am black and beautiful. O daughters of Jerusalem like the tents of Kedar like the curtains of Solomon.

Verse 2: In the pocket of her dress she found three jelly beans, one purple, two black, and a lipstick. She colored her lips.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth

Verse 3: She took off her Easter hat and shook her beaded head. Among the clinking of her grandma's ancient bottles she found rosewater and Shalimar.

Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind. Blow upon my garden that its fragrance may be wafted abroad.

Verse 4: She sprinkled her hair and slipped a purple jelly bean between her lips. She put her Easter hat on again.

You are beautiful as Tirzah, my love. Comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners.
