3. Biggest Wish For Interactivity
Robyn: I have a wish. What I would like to see is emotion portrayed and characters portrayed like they are in other media. I think that's what people want more than anything. They aren't as concerned about the puzzles. If the story is not there, if the emotion is not there, then it is not going to achieve a sense of sophistication that it should or can. So that is more than anything what I want to achieve. We look back at movies. When movies first came out they were very unsophisticated, they had not evolved to the state they are in today.
Rand: They used brute force to convey their emotions.
Robyn: They have become something that... you know, you almost get angry that a Kodak commercial... that they know little moves to make you feel.
[VISUAL PUNCUATION AND LAUGHTER]
Kyle: So let me get this straight. You want to put Kodak commercials in interactive mediums?
[LAUGHTER]
Rand: Yeah. We want to make commercials!
Kyle: That's fantastic, that's great.
[MUCH LAUGHTER]
Rand: "Celebrate the moments of your life."
Robyn: But even a commercial can...
Rand: Pull your heart strings.
Robyn: And so, it has to be that this is just another medium and we should be able to cause people to emote. I think that's a good thing.
Kyle: I think you were sucessful with that in Myst, but it was a different kind of emotion, a very solitary one.
Rand: Which is good, I mean, I think that is nice.
Kyle: That might be another defining factor of Myst, the fact that it is so personal for everybody that plays it. It is what THEY want it to be.
Rand: The easy answer to that question (What is your biggest wish...), the less sophisticated one from a technical standpoint, is speed and storage.
